Here is a one-of-a-kind, gentle and very big gelding. Hugo sticks at 16.2 hands, weighing in at 1,450lbs, and a TRUE Blue Roan. It’s rare to find a horse with his modern day black type pedigree with his bone structure.
Hugo was started in a cowhorse program and just got too big and then ranch horse life began. He has a very well rounded background with a lot of experience in and out of the arena. Hugo has nice lead departures and has a very smooth and comfortable lope on a loose rein. He collects nicely and is soft in his face and ribcage. He has a great one handed neck rein with good direction. He side passes, goes over all the trail obstacles, and handles everything thrown his way rock solid.
Hugo has been ranched on in big country. He has a big long trot across large pastures and can cover some ground. He’s gathered thousands of cattle, caught some wild ones in the brush, and has been used for sorting, doctoring, branding, and loading.
Hugo has been roped on a lot in the pasture and some in the arena. He could pull a semi truck if you dallied it onto your saddle horn. He’s super quiet and easy to track cattle on. He ground ties where you drop a rein, stands quiet for the mounting block and will let you climb on him fence side. Hugo is cool as a cucumber out on the trails and enjoys to leisurely cruise down the road. Nothing spooks this bold, brave guy and he’s safe for any level of rider. Always gentle and safe even with substantial time off. Saddle up and go, no worries!
Hugo is built to last a lifetime and will be your best partner on the trails or on the ranch. He’s docile and kind on the ground and on his back. He’s easy to own and wants to be solid citizen in all aspects of owning a horse. He will lay down on command and you can ride anywhere you want bareback. He is trustworthy around loud gunfire, crazy dogs, blowing tarps, heavy machinery, and wildlife.
